Which material should I choose for my billboards?
Billboards and panels can consist of different sheet materials. But which material is best for your billboard? Here we provide more information about the different materials.
Forex
Forex is made of foamed PVC and therefore has no hard top layer. The material is available in thicknesses of 1, 3, 5 and 10 mm and the special foam core makes Forex panels very light, yet strong and flexible. You can order it in any contour and have it printed on both sides. Forex is very affordable compared to other sheet materials.
The material is suitable for indoor use, outdoors it can only be used temporarily. When temperatures and humidity fluctuate, the material soaks, making it more fragile and more likely to break when it is cold. The material is fire retardant, so suitable for public areas.
You often see Forex at festivals and fairs. It is used, among other things, as a facade sign, wall decoration, milled letters, ceiling pendant, displays and signage.
Dibond
Dibond, also called an aluminum sandwich panel, is a panel with three different layers. This material is light in weight, yet very sturdy thanks to the special combination of aluminum with a black plastic core. You can choose from thicknesses of 3, 4 and 6 mm.
Due to the special composition of the material, Dibond is weather-resistant. The material has a low degree of expansion and is therefore very suitable for outdoor billboards. Where other materials can soak due to high humidity, Dibond does not warp.
Dibond is most commonly used as facade sign, wall decoration, milled letters, construction signs, displays, signage and in stand construction.
HPL
If you want almost indestructible panels, we advise you to choose HPL panels. Extreme force or point load is required to damage or break the top layer.
The material is very vandal resistant. Because the material is vandal-resistant, weather-resistant, fire-retardant and UV-resistant, it can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications.
HPL plates are most commonly used as facade sign or sports field boards.
Akylite
Akylite is a polypropylene sheet that is very sturdy despite its low weight. This is due to the core: it is made of transparent polypropylene that has been vacuum drawn. This creates a honeycomb structure, which makes the material extra strong. Are you looking for a greener or cheaper material than Forex? Then go for Akylite. This material is fully recyclable thanks to its composition.
Akylite is most commonly used as a POS material. The material is weather resistant and therefore suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Channel plate
Channel plate or polyprop has a thickness of 3.5 or 8 mm and is provided with horizontal or vertical channels. You can have us cut the smooth, straight ribbed material so that it becomes foldable. After use, polyprop can be easily stored due to the light weight and sturdiness of the material. Channel plate can be used both indoors and outdoors.
The most common applications for polyprop are real estate signs, birth signs, lamppost signs and yard signs.
